A violent conflict caused by an e-cigarette occurred on a train from Milan to Verona, leading to a stop in Brescia.

According to Italian media quibrescia.it, a violent altercation occurred on a train traveling from Milan to Verona on the afternoon of December 30, 2023, due to the use of an e-cigarette. As a result, the train had to make an unscheduled stop at Brescia station for intervention.

An altercation between a young Italian couple and a 30-year-old Nigerian man escalated from verbal insults to physical confrontation and ultimately involved the use of knives.

An Italian girl, known as Ragazza Milanese, attempted to “smoke” an e-cigarette in a train compartment, but the law strictly prohibits the use of e-cigarettes in such areas, equating it to tobacco use. A 30-year-old Nigerian man protested against this, leading to a heated argument. The altercation escalated into a physical clash when an Italian youth intervened. In the chaos, the Italian man even brandished a small knife.

The result was a Nigerian man’s right hand being cut by a sharp object, and he received immediate medical attention on the scene. Two Italians also sustained abrasions and bruises.

The railway police, regular police officers, local law enforcement, and Red Cross ambulances subsequently intervened to handle the situation, and counterfeit weapons were also seized.
