According to Turkish news outlet Sondakika, the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Office in the Elazig province of Turkey has successfully uncovered an illegal tobacco case, resulting in the arrest of three criminals.
In the province of Erzincan, Turkey, the team from the Police Department’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit carried out a series of operations to combat smuggling activities within the city. As part of these operations, they conducted searches at three commercial locations and their affiliated buildings, resulting in the seizure of 7,820 cigarette papers, 7 bottles of e-liquid, 1 e-cigarette, 101 packs of 50g waterpipe tobacco, 28 packs of cigarettes, and 10.5 kilograms of shredded tobacco. During the operation, suspects U.G., K.A., and M.Y. were arrested, and investigations regarding the confiscated items are still ongoing.
The Public Security Bureau of Erzincan Province stated in a declaration that, “In order to uphold citizen peace and safety, and maintain public order, we will firmly and determinedly continue our efforts to combat smuggling activities in our province.” This also demonstrates the law enforcement agency’s determination and persistence in combating illegal activities.
