Switzerland Plans to Ban Sale of E-Cigarettes to Minors

The Swiss canton of Vaud plans to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, aligning regulations with traditional tobacco products.

According to a report from Zentralplus on November 8th, the Swiss canton of Vaud is planning to prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes to minors.

The state legislature, in a preliminary debate, has largely agreed to revise the relevant laws. If this law is implemented, regulations for e-cigarettes will be the same as those for cigarettes and other tobacco products. According to the Swiss Tobacco Prevention Consortium, currently ten states in Switzerland have already banned the sale of e-cigarettes to minors.

The Swiss Federal government is also engaging in this work at the national level, and negotiations on the matter concluded in early October.
