Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has announced plans to propose a bill banning e-cigarettes and vaporizers before leaving office in 2024. This announcement comes after the Supreme Court had previously rejected a similar attempt.
During his regular press conference on Monday, he stated, “It has been proven that these substances are harmful to health.”
Mexico has implemented one of the strictest anti-smoking laws in the world, including a comprehensive ban on smoking in public places. In addition, the country has already banned the importation of e-cigarettes.
Global criticism of e-cigarettes is growing as these nicotine-containing devices gain popularity among young people. Last month, Australia announced an import ban on these products.
This move by President Lopez Obrador is part of ongoing efforts to prioritize public health and reduce the use of harmful substances.
