Colombian Minister of Justice, Néstor Osuna, reaffirmed during a debate in the Senate that President Gustavo Petro’s government supports the abolition of the ban on marijuana consumption.
He stated that the original version of the constitution (in 1991) did not explicitly prohibit drug consumption, and this ban was added in the legislative action of 2009.
Now, they are not seeking to lift all bans, but rather to decriminalize marijuana. Additionally, Osuna has released the latest data on drug consumption in school environments for 2022, confirming that these levels have not significantly changed since 2016.
A study conducted by the Ministry of Justice has revealed that girls in school environments consume alcohol more frequently than boys, bringing attention to this concerning issue.
